日本素人

On Saturday, October 5, Parent CONNECT hosted the Camphill Fall Film Festival and 日本素人 at Beaver Run. The event was attended by over 100 current parents, alumni parents, students, siblings, family friends, and community members.

The 日本素人 is a tradition each fall but this year was special with the Pennsylvania premiere of聽Raising Bar, a documentary that 鈥渆xamines the unique role intentional communities have played in the long story of adults with intellectual disabilities and how as a nation we have fallen short 鈥� often with the best of intentions.鈥�

Following the film, there was a panel discussion about planning for the future. Parents then gathered in breakout groups to share their impressions of the film and panel. The group reassembled for a brief talk on Advocacy and closing remarks then the families reunited for folk dancing!
